The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams said the Greene County Fair Board (which he also a member of) was going to apply for a Louis Dreyfus grant to help purchase a permanent generator for Clover Hall on the fairgrounds. He said the generator they are looking to purchase is $7,500. No action was taken by the board.

The Board then gave permission to use the courthouse grounds for the upcoming return of the Market to Market Relay on May 14th. The Board then declined to participate in the State Auditor’s office’s incentive program to help save money on efficiencies.

Next, the Board approve the 2022 construction evaluation calendar, which includes the master matrix for animal confinements; an opioid memorandum of understanding on settlement agreements as presented, appropriating the final 15-percent of the current fiscal year funding for for county departments and offices, and the second reading to amend an ordinance for county election precincts. Additionally, following the advice of County Attorney Thomas Laehn, the Board will hold a public hearing next week before approving the third and final reading of the precinct ordinance.

The Board also heard additional 2023 fiscal year funding requests from the Bell Tower Community Foundation of $10,000, Congregate Meals for $15,000 and Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity for $5,000. The Board took no action following the requests.
