A fire in Grand Junction severely damages a home on Christmas eve.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Grand Junction and Jefferson fire departments, a deputy and Greene County Ambulance responded to the fire at 302 West Main Street at 4:22pm on Christmas eve. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Grand Junction Fire Chief noticed smoke coming from the two-story home and notified fire and law enforcement personnel.
Williams says no one was home at the time of the fire and no one was hurt. The house sustained severe smoke damage and the floor of the first story was completely gone. Williams notes the cause of the accidental fire was from the furnace. According to the Greene County Assessor’s real estate website, the home is owned by Kimberly Swanson, which Williams points out the occupants of the home are displaced and are working with the local Red Cross for help and assistance.
