unnamedMain Street Guthrie Center held its second official meeting Tuesday night since receiving its Main Street Iowa designation last month, and the organization continues to close in on finalizing committees that will play integral roles in the program.

Guthrie Center Revitalization President Ken Laughery says all but one of the program’s four committees now has a Chairperson, with Organization being the sole area still needing a leader.  Marian McQuaid was named Chair of Economic Restructuring, Shannon Neff will lead Promotion, and finally, Becky Carico will be the Design Committee Chair.

As the 40 Main Street Guthrie Center members in attendance broke into committee groups Tuesday evening, Laughery says another important program topic was discussed: pledge collection.

“We’ve got a good start–we’ve collected about 20% of the dollar amount that has been pledged.  That is one of leads right now for the Organization Committee is to get a timeline and a plan put together on how we’re going to get those pledges coming in.”

Laughery says the sooner pledge collection happens the better for the Main Street program but there is no specific deadline currently in place.

Also featured in the meeting Tuesday was discussion about when and how to go about hiring an executive director for Main Street Guthrie Center.  Laughery says the goal is to have that position filled by July 1st.
