As the colder months continue on, a special event in Dallas County next week will celebrate the shortest day of the year.
The Dallas County Conservation Board will be hosting the Winter Solstice Celebration from 7-8 a.m. Tuesday at the Astronomical Clock at Hanging Rock in Redfield. Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist explains what to expect.
“At 6:45 a.m. on December 21st there will be a fire going in the shelter there, there is a nice little fireplace in the shelter and that’s where initially people will gather and then they’ll go up on the hill to get a really beautiful view of the sunrise coming up.”
There is no cost to attend and there is no registration required. For more information you can go here.
