The Perry girls basketball team mounted a furious rally late Tuesday night in Monroe only to fall just short 40-34 in Heart of Iowa conference action. PCM led by as many as 14 in the first half and carried a 25 – 13 lead into the break. The Jayettes responded with a big third quarter outscoring PCM 14-2 to get back into the game. Lydia Olejniczak, Jayna Kenney and Katherine West spearheaded the rally. Olejniczak scored 7 points in a four minute stretch while Kenney added five in the third quarter. West scored a season high 6 points and led the team with five steals. Perry grabbed a 32-30 lead early in the fourth quarter but back to back three pointers by Addison Steenhoek and Paige Steenhoeck were daggers for Perry. PCM improves to 2-1 in HOI action while Perry falls to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Olejniczak was dominant once again leading Perry with 19 points.
