Greene Co HS Food Drive

As Raccoon Valley Radio’s Caring Christmas Food Drives continue this month, area food pantries are seeing tremendous amounts of donations.

Recently, Raccoon Valley Radio held two live broadcasts for the food drives at Greene County High School and Paton-Churdan School. Both school districts donated several non-perishable food items that were given to the Greene County Action Resource Center. ARC Manager Shirley Haupert shares her thoughts on the continuing partnership between the local radio station and the food pantry.

“Oh those are always so appreciated because you (RVR) and Doug (Rieder), you do a great job out there in the field talking to the people and people are very generous. It’s always fun when Doug delivers that stuff and we get to look at it the next couple of days and say, ‘Ooo, look at what we got this time.’”

Additionally, the P-C broadcast that was held this past Monday also included a drawing where each student that donated a food item had a chance to win four ISU men’s basketball tickets for the January 22nd home game against Texas Christian University, and fifth grader Edynn Smith won.
