A reminder that a fundraiser is happening tomorrow and it’s to help a Greene County organization continue to provide housing for individuals and families.

Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity for Greene County is having a soup luncheon and pie auction tomorrow. Executive Director Jeff Lamoureux says the soup luncheon is a drive-thru style at the First United Methodist Church where people can receive either chili or chicken noodle soup, along with vegetables and a dessert for a free-will donation from 11am-1pm. He points out there is also an online pie auction currently underway, with bidding to end at 1pm tomorrow. Lamoureux talks about trying the venture of online bidding.

“So we’re going to give that a shot. We’ve got eight pies, which is a little less than we normally have. I kind of wanted to walk our way through this online process before I went with a lot of pies. So again, some of the best bakers in the county are providing pies for us.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for Habitat’s Helping Hands housing projects, where volunteers make improvements to existing, owner-occupied homes.
