minburnThe City of Minburn was hit by another water main break last night around 6pm by Highway 169 in town.

City Clerk Kris Fitch says the water department had to shut-off the water service to the entire town for two hours while they repaired the break and turned the water back on around 8pm last night.

Residents are advised that they are under a boil advisory until further notice.  Fitch adds that anytime water service is shut-off for the entire City, there’s a chance that bacteria could develop in the water and so a boil advisory has been issued.

During a boil advisory, residents are reminded to boil their water for at least one minute and then let it cool before consuming or using it to rinse food.

Water samples are currently being tested by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and if the sample come back clean, then the boil advisory will be lifted.

Fitch points out that this is Minburn’s fourth water main break this month and the third time they have had a boil advisory.

She recommends that residents stock up on jugs of water to have on hand for the rest of the winter season in case there are anymore breaks.
