Dallas County Emergency Management is encouraging people to take part in an upcoming winter storm spotting class. 

The National Weather Service in Des Moines is offering a free training course at 7 p.m. December 16th and it will take place virtually. The class is open for everyone to participate but registration is required. 

The class will teach participants about snowfall across Iowa, the differences between watches, warnings and advisories as well as how to prepare for the winter season, among other things.
