The regular season has officially begun for both the Panorama Panthers boys and girls basketball teams with their first double header that took place Tuesday.

The Panthers boys and girls teams hit the court Tuesday night for their first regular season game against the visiting Mount Ayr Raiders. Both the boys and girls teams were looking to pickup where they left off last season with the girls finishing 19-5 last year while the boys finished with an overall record of 18-5.

The Panthers boys team is fielding a team that looks vastly different than the one from last year as last year’s team featured a large group of seniors. For the Panthers boys Tuesday night’s game was a close loss as the Panthers fell to the visiting Raiders by one point with a final score of 54-53 falling to 0-1 on the season.

For the Panthers girls team they dominated throughout the game as at the end of the first quarter the Raiders only managed two points with the Panthers girls leading 21-2. By halftime the score was 40-7 in favor of the Panthers and the Panthers girls finished the game with a score of 57-25 to move to 1-0 on the young season after an efficient night of scoring.

The Panthers boys and girls basketball teams will hit the court again this week for another double header at home when they take on the visiting Madrid Tigers with girls scheduled for tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.
