The Perry City Council met in a work session Wednesday to continue the ongoing discussions with firework regulations in the City.

The work session was the result of this past Fourth of July holiday when the Council and city staff heard numerous complaints and concerns from citizens about the use of fireworks within city limits.

At the work session, Council members discussed where vendors could sell fireworks and the general consensus was to continue to allow fireworks to be sold at the normal places they have been rather than limit where they can be sold.

The other issue the Council discussed was about fireworks displays within the city. The Council agreed that consumer fireworks will be prohibited within city limits, except for commercial displays that have received a permit from the City.

The proposed changes are expected to be included in an amended ordinance, which is anticipated to be presented to the Council at their December 6th meeting.
