A local librarian was selected one of the five winners in Iowa for the “Association For Rural & Small Libraries Conference Grant” in Sparks, Nevada. 

Stuart Public Library Director Lisa Sherman was nominated and attended the conference. She says she learned a lot from the multiple sessions that were geared towards improving library services, continuing education and training library personnel. Sherman states there is a lot to take from the conference. 

“Every session I went to and every keynote speaker I had, it applies to rural and small libraries like Stuart so there were some libraries that were smaller and bigger than us but it was incredible to be surrounded by 400 to 500 librarians that were rural and small in the United States.”

She says a lot of what she learned she will implement into the Stuart Public Library.
