Carmyn Paup is the lone returning starter from the Paton-Churdan girls’ basketball team of last season. That squad went 16-6, but with 80% of the starters graduating last May, including 6′ 3″ All-State post player Danielle Hoyle, Coach Tom Kennedy says the 2021-22 Rockets have a different look.

He talks about Paup’s role this season. “She’s our point guard and we’ll run a lot of stuff through her and she’s going to be responsible for more scoring this year as well as getting other people involved. I’m sure she’ll draw a lot of attention and be the focus of everybody’s defense, which will be harder, but I think she’s up for it and will be really good at getting other people involved.”

The Rockets open the season on Nov. 30 in Churdan vs. Boyer Valley (Dunlap) in a girl/boy doubleheader.
