For a fairly new class involving the Perry Community School District, the program is continuing to build homes in the Perry area.

The building trades program allows students to build homes that in turn get sold to people wanting to live in Perry. Superintendent Clark Wicks talks about the current project.

“The third house is being constructed as we speak right now which is great for our building trades class and that will be completed in June, maybe the first part of June. At this time the hole has been dug, the foundation is getting established.”

Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that while some of the preliminary work is currently underway, there will be more work in the near future to get it ready for winter work.

“They hope to have things enclosed, it’s going to be kind of a cold project, but they’ll be getting it enclosed in December and then continue with that work.”

This is the third house that is being built by the building trades program that is also in conjunction with the City of Perry.
