The Greene County Conservation Board is offering free hunter safety training courses next week.
Director Dan Towers says the classes will be held on February, 25th and 27th from 6:30-9pm at the Milwaukee Road Depot in Jefferson. Then on Saturday, March 1st the training will be at Slininger Woods from 8am-4pm with participants to bring a sack lunch with them that day.
Towers stresses that each participant must attend all three classes to receive their hunting safety certification. However, once you have taken the courses, they are good forever.
Anyone born after January 1, 1972 must have a safety certification to purchase a hunting license in Iowa. Anyone 12 years or older is eligible to take the classes.
Towers notes that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources requires the public to register for these classes online by going their website at iowadnr.gov/training.
