Monday is the first official day of Iowa high school boys’ basketball practice. Greene County head coach Chris Nelson saw his team beset by COVID-19 and injuries last season and the Rams went 5-15 overall and 3-9 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The injury bug has already struck before practice begins, but the coach is still optimistic about the upcoming season.

The Rams have high scoring guards returning in senior Bryce Stalder and junior Richard Daugherty. Stalder was named to the HOIAC all-conference first team last season after averaging more than 15 points per game. Daugherty was on the second unit and he scored more than 14 points per contest.

Coach Nelson told Raccoon Valley Radio senior Max Riley has a broken fibula and will miss the first part of the season. Riley was on the HOIAC honorable mention all-conference list as a junior.

The Rams begin the season in Ogden on Monday, Nov. 29 as part of a girl/boy doubleheader. The action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
