The Perry Community School District held its annual program to honor veterans on Veterans Day.

Staff, veterans and community members filled the Perry Performing Arts Center Thursday and  Perry School Foundation Committee Member Linda Kaufman says it was good to see people back in person  this year after not holding the program last year.

“It’s great to be back. Last year all we did was yard signs and some interviews on the radio. So, it’s really good to see the people excited about coming back. Next year we’ll hope to even be back more so with the lunch that we used to do. It was great to see people.”

Committee Member Tom Lipovac tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are a lot of people and organizations that are involved in continuing the ceremony as this year was the 23rd year.

“We are very fortunate to have strong community support. It’s a special day, it brings back a lot of memories of our veterans currently with us and also it touches your heart with the veterans that have passed away. So, we hope that in some small way we give back to our veterans for the service they provided.”

Veterans Day is held every year on November 11th to honor and remember veterans who have served in the past and the present.
