The Greene County Development Corporation Board met Tuesday.
The meeting began with an announcement from Nikki Uebel with Corner View Properties purchased the former Hy-Vee Drugtown building on the downtown square. She said Midwest Behavioral Health with Megan Ball will be a new business in one portion of the building. The business will be an outpatient substance abuse treatment program that is voluntary.
Under reports, Jefferson Building Official Chad Stevens said about 95-percent of the former Pizza Ranch building is complete so that The Stitch can relocate there and he mentioned about GCDC taking ownership of a former barber shop building in town.
Two other announcements were made, including a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Funky Zebra will be on November 4th at 4:30pm and a grand opening is planned for next May for the new Greene County Early Learning Center facility.
GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton then gave a brief report. He said the Social Media Program will start back up in December and run through February with nine new Greene County High School students serving as interns with local businesses to assist in social media promotion. He mentioned 30 high school students took a tour of Bauer Built in Paton earlier this month with it being National Manufacturing Month. He stressed the need for good, qualified employees that several businesses across Greene County are having trouble hiring.
