We are finishing our coverage of the candidates running for Greene County School Board with the lone incumbent.
Catherine Wilson was first elected to the school board in 2017 and is a 1995 Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate. She is married to Brian and they have two adult children and one teenager in high school. Catherine has been the owner of Catherine’s Hairem since 2015. In her capacity as a school board member, Catherine serves on the school improvement advisory committee, as well as the wellness and scholarship committees, and is an ex-officio on the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board.
Catherine wants to continue to improve communication and figuring out ways to bridge the communication gap with the elderly population, along with making sure staff and administration work together to provide the best educational opportunities for students. She also wants to look for ways to engage the community and parents with the district overall.
Catherine explains why she is running for re-election to the Greene County School Board.
“I love Greene County, I love Jefferson, that’s my heart, that’s where I’ve been from. I’ve enjoyed serving the community. I think there’s a lot still left to do. I like to see Greene County Schools do better and I think that we can and we’re very capable of it. I just want to see it through. There’s still so much to learn. One of our mottos at the school is ‘Life-long learners,’ and I want to continue learning.”
Catherine is running against Sean Sebourn, Michelle Fields, Bonnie Silbaugh, Cindi Daubendiek and Nick Lehman for three available seats on the board.
