harvest-season-2

Harvest season is continuing across the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area despite the continued rainfall.

According to the latest Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report, there were five days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending in October 24th. Even with the rainfall limiting field days farmers are still harvesting at a good pace.

At this point in the season 83-percent of soybeans have been harvested, which is six days ahead of the five-year average and 60-percent of corn has been harvested, which is one week ahead of the five-year average.

According to Manager with Heartland Cooperative in Dallas Center Randy Eastman near the Dallas Center area estimates for yields are 240 bushels per acre for corn and 70 bushels per acre for soybeans.
