As Election Day draws closer for the upcoming city/school elections, now is a time to learn more about one Adel mayoral candidate. 

Mayor Jim Peters is running for reelection and has been serving as Adel mayor for the past 30 years. Peters talks about his early background before becoming mayor in the 1980s.  

“I grew up K-12 graduated from Adel. While I was still in high school, my senior year, I signed up for the (U.S.) Navy and reported in August of 1971. Spent three years and nine months in the Navy. I got out early to go attend college.”

When it comes to some of the issues Peters feels need to be addressed within the City this includes transportation, annexation and recreation. 

“We need to start filling in some gaps both east towards Ortonville and then just south of Meadow Road. So, annexation is something that we are looking at and been looking at for about ten years.”

Mayor Peters is running for reelection in the upcoming November 2nd city/school elections.
