An annual Halloween event returns to mostly normal activities later this month in Jefferson.
“Trick or Treat Around the Square” will be from 4:30-6pm on Thursday, October 28th on the downtown square in Jefferson. Children and families are to walk counterclockwise around the square to receive candy and other treats from businesses, organizations and churches. Bonnie Silbaugh with Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community invites those groups to participate with “Trick or Treat Around the Square.”
“So this is going to be kind of a fun one. This is our time that we want to make sure and invite businesses that aren’t on the square to come and set up a table, your civic groups, your churches, your whoever can come, set up a table and celebrate with these kids and get out there.”
Prior to that activity will be a Halloween party with various games and prizes, hosted by the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department at the Greene County Community Center from 3:45-5pm. Then children and families can enjoy a Story Walk outside of the Jefferson Public Library from 5:30-6:30pm. The final activity is a music concert with the Greene County Middle School at the middle school auditorium starting at 7pm.
Any business, organization or group that wants to participate in Trick or Treat Around the Square can contact the Welcome Center in Jefferson at 515-386-2155.
