The Greene County Historical Society, the Jefferson Public Library and Humanities Iowa are teaming up for a special program this weekend.

Earlham resident David Connon is a historical researcher and re-enactor who has published a book called, “Iowa Confederates in the Civil War.” Connon will be at the Greene County Historical Museum Sunday at 2pm for a free program as he will provide insight into the research for his book of the 76 Iowans who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The book also talks about the 76 Iowans and their pre-war, war-time and postwar experiences.

Connon is an Illinois native and has had his history stories published in Iowa Heritage Illustrated, Iowa History Journal, and Illinois Magazine. He is also a member of the Sons of Union Veterans, an associate member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of the Des Moines Civil War Round Table.

Free refreshments will be provided and Connon will sell and sign copies of his book following the event.
