The two high school volleyball teams from the county were both in conference action away from their home courts last night. Greene County won a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match at Perry in three sets, while Paton-Churdan lost in three sets at Woodbine in Rolling Valley Activities Conference action.
Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams won by scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-23, to improve to 14-8 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Jayettes fell to 7-18 overall. “We had a fantastic night of passing,” said Coach Heisterkamp. “Our offense was hitting the mark and defense was stellar. The first two sets showcased the best hitter/setter connections I’ve seen from our girls all season,” she added.
The Rams served at 92% as a team. The leader in kills was Bella Schroeder with 12. Emma Shipley and Natalie Heupel each collected five kills with four from Kaylee Stalder.
Coach Makayla Sparr’s Rockets lost by scores of 10-25, 13-25, 15-25. P-C is 1-8 overall and remains without a win in the Rolling Valley. Woodbine is 6-1 in league play at 15-9 overall.
