A new librarian recently started with the Jefferson Public Library.
Stephanie Hall is the new Youth Services Librarian and she recently took over for Terry Clark, who retired as the Children’s Librarian. Prior to her new role, Hall was a library associate at Greene County Elementary School. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio she has had a passion for libraries and the importance those places play in someone’s life.
“So when I heard this position was open and including tweens and teens I got really excited. Because this position will hopefully allow me to continue that fostering of the love of reading and excitement of knowledge for all children as they grow up.”
Hall talks about one new aspect involving the older kids.
“We will be starting to form a teen and tween advisory committee. This will comprise of 10-12 6th-9th grader students and this committee will help revamp our teen and tween department. So I’m really, really excited about that part. I look forward to seeing what the future brings for that.”
Hall adds reading is important for all children at any age level to develop vocabulary, independence, confidence and let’s them use their imagination.
