For a local senior housing and care community in Perry, multiple statewide awards have been earned for 2021 from LeadingAge Iowa. 

Perry Lutheran Homes received the Public Trust Award for Project Deliver the Love which aimed to spread love and food to elderly citizens in the community. 

Also, Chief Operating Officer and Administrator Melissa Gannon was chosen for the 2021 Excellence in Leadership Award for her work leading Perry Lutheran Homes during the pandemic, derecho and acquisition of a senior living community. 

The StepUp Career Advancement Program was chosen for the 2021 Excellence in the Workplace Award for its work to provide employees in any career field or position a pathway to earn certifications and degrees through promotion, higher education and tuition reimbursement.

Finally, Certified Medication Aide Inge Smothers was awarded the 2021 Caregiver of the Year Award for her compassion and joy in going above and beyond meeting the needs of the residents. 

A special ceremony will take place to honor the recipients at 9 a.m. October 27th with a yogurt parfait breakfast bar at the Perry Lutheran Homes Eden Acres Campus.
