The Perry City Council will meet in special session this morning.

Items on the agenda include approval of a request from the police department to hire another officer in addition to the two they’re already searching for, in order to bring the department up to a full staff of 12.

City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says time is of the essence in order to get the department back to full strength because it’s tough to find someone who has completed the academy and enrollment only takes place at certain times of the year, with the most recent session just starting.

The Council will then hold their second fiscal year 2015 budget workshop.

The meeting takes place at 8:30am in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
