A notice for Jefferson residents, due to the extremely cold temperatures, City Administrator Mike Palmer is asking residents to leave their water faucets on at night to prevent their pipes from breaking.
He wants to remind everyone that the City isn’t responsible for a broken water service line that occurs from a house to the curbside. To help prevent your water pipes from bursting, he suggests that you leave your faucets run at a steady dip at night, when the temperatures are the coldest, to keep water flowing through your pipes.
Palmer points out that your water bill might be a little higher than normal if you choose to do this, but it’s better than paying to having your pipes fixed due to them freezing in the winter.
