Several groups and organizations in Scranton are coming together to host a community fundraiser tonight.
Co-organizer Dawn Rudolph says the event includes a silent auction from 5-7pm, as well as a meal at 6pm, with the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association, as well as the Greene County Pork and Lamb producers supplying the entrees and Lidderdale Country Store serving side dishes and desserts. Following the meal will be the live auction at 7 and then live music provided by Dirt Road Divide from 8:30-11pm. All proceeds will benefit the Scranton Fire Department, as well as the Scranton Parks Department and the H.F. and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library.
Rudolph notes they held the inaugural event in 2019 and brought in over $15,000, but couldn’t have it again last year because of the pandemic. She believes this year’s fundraiser will be even better than 2019.
“Well of course the first year you just don’t know how things are going to go and you live and learn, there’s always kinks to work out, or things that you need to improve. We think we’ve ironed out a few of those things that maybe didn’t quite go off as smoothly as we initially thought that they would. So we’ve had time to work on those things. We have a really good committee and I’m really proud of all of their efforts for putting this on, and I think it’s going to be a really fun night.”
Tickets are $15 per person, $8 for kids 5-12 and those under five are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door of the Scranton Community Center.
