An annual event will take place today for people to engage in a variety of activities at a local conservation area north of Earlham.
The event will take place in the tallgrass prairie location at Kuehn Conservation Area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The theme for this year is “The Healing Continues” and everyone is welcomed to attend.
The free event will feature naturalists engaging the audience in the release of tagged monarch butterflies and a healed and rehabilitated Red-Tailed Hawk will be released as well. Also, Dallas Chief Eagle will share his Hoop Dance traditions. There will be live music as well and jingle dress dances also.
The celebration will conclude with Omaha-Winnebago Elder Irma Wilson White sharing the tradition of Prayer Ties and will also show those attending how to construct the Prayer Ties that will be hung in the tradition of healing as participants leave.
At the request of the presenters those attending are asked to wear a mask and there will also be a food truck on-site. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
