The Panorama Panthers Volleyball Team faced the Madrid Tigers when the Tigers traveled to Panora Tuesday night and the Panthers came away with a victory.

The Panthers were heading into the matchup with the Tigers with an overall record of 4-3 after a couple of impressive wins in a tournament this past weekend in Coon Rapids. The Panthers took set one 25-17, set two 25-19 and set three 25-18 to win the match 3-0 and improved their record to 5-3 on the year looking impressive so far this season.

Panthers Head Volleyball Coach Joanne Sandage says against the Tigers Tuesday night serving played a major role in the victory as she says good serving kept the Tigers out of their system making it difficult for them to run their offense. Sandage says Mollie Monthei went 16-17 serving with one ace, Jasmarie Flanery went 16-17 serving with four aces and Jazmyn Sellers went 15-17 serving with one ace combining for 6 aces on the night.

So far this season Sandage says the serving and blocking from the Panthers has been the strong point so far but she is looking to continue to increase kills per set as well as kill efficiency. The Panthers had 12 blocks on the night against the Tigers and 16 kills during the match averaging four blocks per set and 5.3 kills per set.

While Sandage says blocking and serving continues to be the strong point in the Panthers game they will continue practicing this week on improving their kill efficiency as against the Tigers the Panthers had a kill efficiency of .289 and are averaging a .186 kill efficiency overall on the season. The Panthers are also averaging an 80-percent serve efficiency on the season as well as it continues to be a strong attack for the Panthers.

The Panthers will look to improve upon their record once again when the Trojans of Pleasantville travel to Panora with the game set to begin at 7 p.m. September 14th.
