Guthrie Center is looking to improve Mitchell Park. 

Guthrie Center Parks and Recreation Board President Chris Bunde says that part of their park improvement plan is to put in a musical playground. Bunde explains what a musical playground is. 

“Essentially it’s an area that has mostly metal constructed tubes and different creative structures. That when you know hit them with mallets or other things they end up making notes and you can actually make music.” 

The Guthrie Center Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Guthrie Center Arts Council to identify the instruments they will purchase and apply for grants to fund the project. Bunde states the feedback from residents was that they would like something in the park that isn’t overly active. The project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2022.
