Once again WCV head football coach Jim Lindsay sat down to talk about the 2021 season on the Wahl McAtee Tire & Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page.
WCV played a hard fought game against Red Oak last Friday. The Wildcats came up short 20-0 in a much closer game than the score would indicate. The game was 6-0 until late in the 3rd quarter. Coach Lindsay was asked about the loss. He said, “There were a lot of positives. It was 6-0 for a very long time. They scored on the first drive. Then we kinda withstood the adrenaline rush and everything like that. We were always in the game, keep grinding. We just couldn’t quite get anything into rhythm on offense.”
Coach Lindsay would continue to elaborate on changes needed to be made for the offense. “Well we need to communicate more on the line. They (Red Oak) did a really good job of stunting some backers and some missed assignments.” Coach Lindsay would add, “We’ve gotta be able to throw the ball. Even last week we didn’t throw the ball very well. That’s something we’re going to improve on as well.”
Coach Lindsay and the Wildcats will be back in action on Friday. They’ll be on the road in Eagle Grove to take on the Eagles with kickoff at 7pm.
