It’s been more than 25 years since Jefferson Community Golf Course has been the venue for the Rams one home cross country meet, but that’s the case this year. Greene County hosts its middle school and high school home meet at the Jefferson Community Golf Course on the south edge of town along Highway 4 with middle school races at 10 a.m., followed by high school races. The action should end around noon, well in advance of the Iowa at Iowa State football game, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
Jeff Lamoureux is the head coach of the Rams and he talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the change. “We had our meet out at Spring Lake State Park for some time, but due to some logistics and it being rained out the last three years, we decided to make a change. The Jefferson golf course people have been great to work with and the course looks to be in great shape. The runners will have a lot of turns, so times may not be quite as fast, but we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.”
Activities Director Todd Gordon reminds people parking for the general public won’t be allowed at the course, but parking lots at the middle school and Jefferson Church of Christ will be available for public parking and those lots are within 1/2 mile of the course.
