All Guthrie County 4-Hers wanting to show swine, beef, dairy, goats, sheep, poultry and rabbits at the Guthrie County Fair, Iowa State Fair and/or Ak-Sar-Ben must be certified, and 2014 certification training begins later this month.
There are two training sessions that local 4-Hers should be aware of–those being on Thursday, February 20th at 6:30pm and on Saturday, March 8th, at 9:30am. The February 20th training will be held at the Community Building on the Guthrie County Fairgrounds, while the March 8 training will be at the Extension Office in Guthrie Center.
4-Hers who feel they do not need the training can take their handling tests before the trainings on both days. Testing begins at 3:30pm on February 20th, and then at 8am on March 8th.
If these dates do not work for any local 4-Hers, contact Extension Office Youth Coordinator Mollie Clark this week to receive information about training and testing dates being offered in surrounding counties.
Any 4-Hers needing to contact Clark can reach her at 641-747-2276.
