The location of the Greene County High School Cross Country home meet has been moved to a different date and location this year.
Activities Director Todd Gordon tells Raccoon Valley Radio the race will be this Saturday, instead of Thursday, and the location will be at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course. He explains why the meet was moved from Spring Lake Park to the Jefferson golf course.
“It’s just a lot more fan-friendly. That people will be able to see the whole race. They can follow along and see the kids about every step of the way. The thing about Spring Lake is just they disappeared for ⅔ of the race and then they’d reappeared and hope you had them all when they came back. But no, so we appreciate the Jefferson golf course helping us and again thanks to Spring Lake (Park) for the use of their facility.”
Gordon talks about the parking situation for fans at the new location of the meet.
“We are going to have the fans, the spectators park at the middle school and at the (Jefferson) Church (of Christ) right there. So everything’s accessible for sidewalk. There’s just enough parking for our buses and school vehicles down at the golf course.”
Gordon adds about ten teams will be competing on Saturday at 10am.
