This past Saturday night there were 14 vehicles reported to have been burglarized within Stuart.

Communities such as Guthrie Center, Panora and Jefferson had similar cases that are believed to be connected. Stuart Police Chief David Reha tells Raccoon Valley Radio his recommendations to keep criminals away.

“The best thing I can recommend is that people take their valuables out of their cars, keep them in your house and keep those doors locked on your vehicles. These criminals are not going to waste their time or risk the noise it creates breaking into your car. If they’re breaking your window that’s going to make a loud noise, people are going to call the police and we’re going to show up.”

Reha adds being so close to Des Moines and the interstate criminals come through and commit  burglaries. The Stuart Police Department has leads and is working closely with other counties to solve these crimes. Reha says with vehicle burglaries they usually solve them, it just may take time.
