Coming into their Friday night football game against Gilbert, ADM Tigers football and people across both fanbases were expecting a close game, but after 24 minutes, ADM was able to go into the half on turbo clock and run away with an easy week 1 victory by the score of 41-7. The Tigers were able to project excellence throughout all three phases of the game throughout the night, executing their offense extremely well with five touchdowns in six possessions in the first half, while their defense didn’t allow a first down during that same timeframe.
ADM got the ball rolling in the first quarter with a 17 yard touchdown run from senior quarterback Matt Dufoe, with Dufoe finding Cade Morse for a 37 yard touchdown a few minutes later to take a 14-0 lead. In the second quarter, sophomore running back Brevin Doll was able to get in on the action, converting a 4th down into a touchdown on a 47 yard run, and then a 8 yard scamper into the end zone to take a 28-0 lead. The back breaker came with seven seconds left in the half, as a mishandled carry from the running back resulted in a fumble recovery from senior Gabe Heitz. The Tigers scored a play later with one second in the half with a 17 yard pass from Dufoe to junior Bennett Holmberg, as the Tigers were able to run away and maintain their lead in the second half.
The defense was able to make some big plays throughout the night, causing the turnover and limiting explosive plays, while also staying disciplined defensively. The Tigers looked fresh throughout the night, played with energy, and really feed off of a capacity crowd in Adel, with the fans getting the result they were hoping for.
For ADM, they will be looking to create a similar performance, as they will be hosting Ballard in what should be a good week 2 showdown. All ADM football coverage all season long can be listened on the home of the Tigers, True Country K1079.
