With the conclusion of the Iowa State Fair, not only was Dallas County well represented but its participants performed well.
Overall, as part of the 4-H livestock and horticulture portion of the Iowa State Fair, Dallas County earned 46 purple ribbons and 66 blue ribbons.
Also, the competitions produced seven first place finishes and seven second places. There were also four champions and four reserve champions as well ranging from breeding meat goats senior division champion to barrel racing champion for grades 5th-6th.
Adel-DeSoto-Minburn FFA earned a reserve champion for horticulture for jumbo vegetables and a reserve champion for FFA rabbit meat pen and a roaster champion for meat pens. Also, ADM FFA received a chapter award.
For open class, there was a reserve champion Chianina Heifer from Adel, a champion AOB Heifer from Adel and a reserve champion AOB Steer. Iowa Family Living produced top three finishers in creative arts, ag and hort crops, heritage, midwest living cookies as well as fabric and threads across multiple categories.
