The Perry football team will open up a brand new season tonight when they host Ogden in a 7:00 kickoff at Dewey Field. The Bluejays went winless last year while Ogden secured a 4-3 record while competing in Class 1A. The Bulldogs dropped a class this season to A while Perry bumped up to 4A. Bryce Pierce is back for his second season and officially named Kaden Heck as his starting quarterback. Heck will be making his varsity debut tonight.
“When we went back and looked at the scrimmage, the coaches felt our offense ran the best when Kaden was under center. His greatest asset is his preparation. He puts in the time necessary to be solid high school quarterback. I can check how much film our players are watching on Hudl and Kaden has already put in over an hour and a half on this game alone. He wants to be a good quarterback and he will get an opportunity this season.”
Perry will be very young in several key positions. The running back load will fall on Jeremiah Cregeen and Caden Widen. Cregeen was the starting quarterback last fall while Widen was used in a variety of offensive positions. Juan Hernandez is back at slot while Tanner Burgin and Holden Smith jump in at the wide receiver positions.
You can listen to the game at 6:00 tonight on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
