As students head back to school tomorrow in the Perry School District, there are important reminders to keep everyone safe this school year.
Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says as youth get back onto buses and back onto the sidewalks, extra care should be placed on slowing down while on the roadways. Also, Vaughn reminds people to come to a complete stop at stop signs.
“We have people kind of doing that California roll through stop signs and sliding through stop signs, which really concerns me because that means if they are doing that they are in a little bit of a hurry already so they are a little distracted, but they need to come to a complete stop.”
Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio other things people need to pay attention to is with more buses being on the road. Vaughn says people need to be more aware when they are following a bus and when it might stop.
“Before those stop signs come out, the yellow lights will flash, kind of their amber lights. So, if those come on you need to start slowing down and be prepared to stop because that means that that bus is going to come to a stop and they are going to pick up some kids.”
