While the Raccoon Valley Radio tower project has faced some delays, it’s still on pace to finish on time.

General Manager John McGee says crews from Wallace Tower will be up this week to continue their work on the center tower, replacing the porcelain insulator, antennas and transmission line after facing delays due to waiting on materials. While there have been delays McGee says the project should still finish on time.

“I think the total time for the project is still going to be the same amount of total time. It’s just that we’ve had this three week down time here in the middle of the project that we weren’t expecting and I think when they got onsite and they realized the magnitude of what they were planning on doing it takes more to get the materials in and deal with those kind of hiccups.”

McGee says because crews have been manufacturing the equipment necessary for lifting the tower to replace the insulator that is the reason for the delay.

When crews do arrive to continue their work on the center tower there will be on-air interruptions for 99.7FM KDLS but you can always tune in to 1310AM KDLS, the KDLS app on your electronic device or online at raccoonvalleyradio.com
