A summertime favorite sport is coming to an end in one Greene County town.

The newly renovated Walt Anderson Field in Rippey has been hosting several Mid-Iowa Baseball League games since June. There have been teams from the 18+, 30+, 40+ and 48+ divisions with the Mid Iowa Baseball League. Rippey’s Baseball Commissioner Mel Murken has been working with the semi-professional baseball league to play games at the ballfield in Rippey.

Due to the pandemic, the games were postponed to this year. The final game will be played this Sunday at 2pm. The Friends of Rippey will be selling concessions, with all proceeds to be used on continuing improvements to the field.
