At recent Perry City Council meetings, concern has been expressed about citizens who walk in the streets after sunset in dark clothing, making them difficult to see.
Several council members have expressed safety concerns and encouraged residents to wear bright, reflective clothing or a safety vest when out at night, so that they are not hit by a driver who didn’t see them.
Council woman Barb Wolling decided to step up to the plate and do her part to try and prevent such a tragedy from happening.
“She purchased nine vests and she left those with City Hall, so we’ll see how that goes. We appreciate her taking her own money and time and coming up with a solution” says City Administrator Butch Niebuhr.
Anyone would like a vest should stop by city hall and ask for one, they are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
