The Raccoon River Valley Trail Association is gearing up for their primary fundraiser and celebration of the year next weekend and anyone wanting to attend is encouraged to get their tickets in advance.
Association Chairman Daniel Willrich says this year they’ve made a few changes.
“We have some entertainment this year, Ben Ulin a comedian and magician is going to be our entertainment which is a little bit of a different thing for us this year. Typically we’ll have some sort of a speaker, which is always great, but we thought we’d change that up a bit this year. We have a live auction, we have a silent auction, we do a bunch of fun raffles. Stuff to get people engaged. We like to think it’s not your typical fundraising event where you just sit and we say give us your money, we actually get you to participate and have some fun.”
It’s an evening full of activities, with all proceeds going to support the association who promotes the trail.
“Four forty-five we’ll have a little social gathering with a cash bar and that’s where our silent auction will open. People can bid on lots of fun items that we’ve gotten from businesses and people all along the trail. At five thirty we’ll start dinner, we have a couple good choices there for dinner. Seven o’clock is actually when our entertainment will start so Ben will come on at seven, or a little after seven for about an hour and then we’ll close the silent auction and open up the live auction” says Willrich.
The banquet takes place next Saturday the 15th at the Marriot hotel in West Des Moines. Tickets are $50 per person or you can get a preferred seating table for eight for $500.
