The Stuart City Council approved to move forward with the updates to White Pole Road Monday night.

The updates would cost an estimated $250,000 that would fix divots in the road and upgrade the drainage system. The Council approved the updates 3 to 1 with Council Member Theresa Glass voting against it because she wanted to wait a month and revisit the funding for the updates.

The Council then tabled the resolution establishing truck routes and imposing limitations of trucks and other commercial vehicles at the intersections of Front Street and Division within city limits  due to further review of the ordinance. The Council then approved Karl Chevrolet to put up an eight-foot tall fence with coordination of the Stuart Panning and Zoning Commission and relocation of the tornado siren in their parking lot.

Other items the Council approved were the 2021 Community Catalyst and Building Remediation Grant Award to the Stuart Hotel Project, a resolution authorizing and approving a loan agreement to cover previously issued bonds of $245,000 and providing a levy of taxes, the MidAmerican Energy Franchise Fee, a cigarette permit for Happy Truck Stop LLC, ratifying an ordinance for the division of taxes that were previously levied, downtown economic grant business succession plans, bond issue proposal for rescue and street department equipment, and they also heard an update from the Stuart Police Department on the K-9 Unit and appointed Craig Russel as an Utility Board Member.

Finally the Council tabled the dead tree on 215 Fremont due to more review on city ordinance.
