As the new school year approaches, Greene County School District will have a new, temporary position.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says the School Board approved hiring Ellen Ritter as the family/school liaison. He points out a main component that this position would provide.
“One important aspect of that is to work to bring those students back that were remote learning last year and make them feel comfortable, make parents feel comfortable, build those relationships. Again bottom line, make people feel better in their mental health about what’s going on in school and society.”
The family/school liaison position is for two years and is a part of the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds, which the district recently received over $1 million to use for mitigation efforts against COVID-19, which not only includes physical building improvements but also addressing learning gaps with students.
