The Panora Public Library recently finished up their Summer Reading Program that lasted two months.
Panora Library Director Kim Finnegan says 50 kids participated and they read 850 books. She says having this program keeps the children prepared for school.
“A lot of times kids think I’m out of school, ‘that’s it, I don’t have to read anymore’ and we do encourage them cause the ones that use the library and check out books are the good readers.”
Finnegan says for every child that finished their reading log they won prizes such as five dollars in chamber bucks and tickets to the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.
