For those who can’t suit up and play football anymore but still want to be a part of the action, an annual event is happening next month in Stuart.
The Jeff Pease Memorial Fund is hosting a flag football tournament to raise money for an academic scholarship for a graduating West Central Valley High School senior. This tournament will take place September 4th and will include eight teams with a double elimination bracket and a limit of 12 players on each team, which can include women.
Coordinator Tom Stiles says this tournament will honor the legacy of Jeff Pease, who was a teacher and coach for 30 years with the West Central Valley School District.
“So it really is to remember him even outside of the things he did in the school as far as being aEMT for Stuart Rescue, you know drivers-ed instructor and you know the things he did for the booster club. So it really is just trying to keep his legacy alive and let people know that did not get a chance to meet him to understand what he stood for and things like that.”
The event will take place at the high school football field in Stuart and participants will receive a t-shirt. You can find the link below to register.
