Greene County begins its high school football preseason camp today with many key performers back from the 2020 team that went 7-3 and advanced to the round of 16 in the Class 2A playoffs.

Among those back is sophomore Nathan Behne, who went 29 of 31 last season on extra point kicks. He was listed at 5’8″ and 135 lbs. as a freshman, and he’s pushing the 6 foot mark in height and is starting to fill out his frame. Raccoon Valley Radio asked Behne what size does positively for a kicker. “It definitely helps with power and momentum and how far back you can get your leg. If you’re taller, it makes it so you have more leg speed coming at the ball. There are couple of NFL kickers that are 6′ 5″ and they have the biggest kicks in the league.”

Behne has attended several kicking camps this Summer to get better at his specialty. He said he and his teammates are looking forward to the season and the Rams hope to be a force in 2A football in 2021.
